Open Web Vancouver is a publication. It exists to be read, and it collects as little about its readers as it can.
What the site collects
- Contact messages. If you use the contact form, the message you write is stored in this site’s database and read by its editors. It is used to answer you or to correct the site, and for nothing else. The form asks for a name and a way to reach you only so a reply is possible.
- Server logs. Like almost every website, the server records standard technical logs: the address a request came from, the page requested and the time. Logs are used to keep the site running and secure, and are rotated routinely.
- Security cookies. The software that protects the site against automated break-in attempts may set functional cookies. They identify a browsing session, and they are the only cookies the site sets.
What the site does not do
The site runs no advertising, no analytics service and no social media trackers. It does not profile readers, does not sell or share information with anyone, and does not send marketing of any kind. There is no newsletter and no account system.
